[UPDATE: SHOOTER TIKTOK HAD PRIDE FLAG] – Police confirm multiple victims after shooting at high school in Perry, Iowa

Law enforcement has confirmed that there’s an active shooter situation happening at Perry High school in Perry, Iowa. There are multiple victims reported.

Multiple people are feared to be victims after a shooting occurred at Perry High School in Iowa on Thursday morning.

There are at least five ambulances, police, air ambulance helicopters, and firefighters on the scene of the shooting, which is 25 miles northwest of Des Moines.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the active shooting investigation – but said no other information is available at this time.

Today is the first day back after the winter break for students at Perry High School.

Shots were reported just after 9am on Thursday. Some 1,700 children study at the school.

Des Moines Register is reporting that there is no longer an active shooter threat:

Police on scene have confirmed to the Des Moines Register there was a shooter but believe it is no longer an active situation. Streets for several blocks are barricaded, dozens of law enforcement from across central Iowa were on scene and a medical helicopter was seen landing at the school at about 8:30 a.m.

Des Moines Register is now reporting that a “dispatcher tells police multiple injured, scanner traffic says”:

The first call from dispatch was at about 7:37 a.m., according to a recording from the police scanner. Dispatchers said they had access to school cameras and reported seeing something in the west hallway.

A dispatcher advised first responders of “reports of multiple subjects injured at this time.”

An unknown first responder advised dispatchers that he encountered a “male subject down in the hallway — appears to be self-inflicted” and that he was “showing other victims.” He later advised that he was outside of Room 308 and “subject that’s down is deceased.”

Call for two medical helicopters went out at 7:46 a.m.

Teachers told to go home. Can’t be good…

All staff have been released to go home, according to a message sent on the districtwide communications system. “Do not return to the building. More information will be available later,” the text said.

Des Moines Register is now reporting that the principal was shot:

Dad reports son injured in shooting, son saw principal get shot

Kevin Shelley said his son, Zander, 15, was grazed by two bullets while in a school hallway. He left the school at about 8:30 a.m. and went to his nearby home, Kevin Shelley said. He described his son’s injuries as minor.

Kevin Shelley said his son said he saw the principal get shot.

“My son was inside, said he heard gunshots and immediately started running,” Kevin Shelley said. “They got into a classroom with a teacher that kept them hidden and safe.”

Zander broke his glasses as he was running away, his father said.

We got very little from the press conference, but did learn they have identified the shooter and there are multiple victims. The shooting happened before most students had even arrived at school.

The local hospital there says two gunshot victims from the school were transported there. Two teachers have confirmed that the principal was indeed one of the victims, via Des Moines Register:

UnityPoint Health officials confirmed two gunshot victims from Perry High School were transported via ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines Thursday morning following the incident.

Two teachers said Dan Marburger, the principal of the high school, was shot.

TikTok has scrubbed an account that allegedly belonged to the Perry High School shooting suspect, Dylan Butler.

Luckily, I captured a screen recording of the account before it was taken down.

The account was named ‘tooktoomuch’ and featured a pride flag in the bio.

The person who owned the account appeared to be a loser, mentally ill, druggy.

He was also in a pretend gun fight with one of his friends in one video.
