BREAKING: AG Barr says spying DID occur on Trump campaign in 2016 and it’s a big deal – [FULL VIDEO]

AG Barr is before the Senate this morning and was asked about his counterintelligence investigation that was announced last night.

In his testimony this morning he testified that he believes there was spying by counterintelligence agencies on the Trump campaign in 2016, and that’s a big deal.

Watch his full comments, as opposed smaller soundbites floating around:

Bar says that the question isn’t whether there was spying, but whether it was adequately predicated. He’s clear that he isn’t making a pronouncement one way or the other, but he believes that it’s the duty of the AG to make sure our intelligence agencies are staying in their lane and not abusing their power.

He also notes that he hasn’t put a team together yet, but he does have people in mind that he wants to help gather all of this information.

Watch the video for more, as his comments are very interesting – especially regarding his reasoning as to why he believes this is such a big deal.

  1. So many of us who were not Trump supporters understand the panic at the thought Trump could actually win… it really seemed like a very bad thing! And that should be stopped, in some legal way. I can say that because I felt like that too.

But I did not hold any power to act on that feeling.

Anyone with power, should not have abused their power to do anything like spying, or trying to stage a coup of a duly elected President! That abuse of power is far, far, more dangerous. It is dangerous for all of us and should be punished severely!

Our system is set up that if Trump did a truly bad thing as President he would be removed, to punish him before he has a chance to do anything bad or good is not part of the system.

We all need more faith in our system. It works, it’s amazing how well it works.

  2. Did you hear that giant sucking sound? That was the democrat’s sphincters slamming shut upon hearing Barr say there was spying. I’m sure there was also the collective loosening of their bowels too.

  4. The MSM is screaming about Barr misusing the word “spying”; however, he didn’t use the word first. The Democrate who asked him the question used the word.

  6. I’m going to offer up this to AG Barr:

God Speed safety and health to you, yours and whomever you bring onboard for this investigation, Mr. Attorney General.

  8. In semi-contrast with the points I made earlier, Andy McCarthy seems (at first) to rebut them in this article from last Thursday…

Andrew C. McCarthy (NatlReview): The Folly of the Mueller Investigation

But really, Andy’s main point, that ALL of this was unnecessary is correct. There should never have been an investigation for “collusion.”

    But there was.

My points pertain to the fact that, once it started, it needed to go a certain way in order to preserve both the rule of law, and faith in our Constitutional system. And Andy actually underscores this by extending into other side-benefits from this awful, expensive, and unnecessary endeavor. It’s a very good article.

  9. We’d all love to know exactly what’s going on. But like watching smoke from a distance, we can’t tell what’s actually on fire, what’s smouldering, and who or what’s putting out the flames.

Most casual observers on the right have been angry at Mueller, Sessions, Rosenstein, and others, from day one. But I suspect, and other people smarter than me have inferred, that these guys did exactly what a pro should have done.

From Sessions’ recusal, to Rosenstein taking the investigation out of the hands of the cabal who orchestrated this entire affair, to Trump’s team working willingly with Mueller, it’s clear now that two very important law enforcement related things came of it:

    1. Trump has been exonerated in a way that Democrats can only look small, petty, and churlish for denying.
    2. The leakers have mostly been identified, and are about to be exposed, humiliated, and in some cases, imprisoned.

I recommend this item at Twitchy, showcasing @ByronYork’s thoughts on Trump’s cooperation with Mueller.

And as Rush Limbaugh pointed out yesterday, in a genius-level twist on what I’ve been saying* regarding the radicalizing of the left, Totalitarian, Police State, Twitter Marxists Force Democrats to Be Honest

*My not-so genius point, which is kinda obvious, was that once these new darlings of the left (the AOC types) get promoted for saying radical things, it drives stodgy, old fossils like Chuck&Nancy to try and show their own radical roots, jusr go stay relevant. Rush goes deeper to explain why it was even possible for the AOC types to go from obscurity to the front of the parade.

  10. I bet there are some nervous politicians in DC, especially some government employees in the FBI right about now with Barr doing some “digging” of his own. Go get ’em, Mr. Barr.

  11. I’d like to see some law and order folks from Flyover in his mix of those who would be helping him.

  12. Oh the Russia collusion hoaxers are losing it that he is looking into this “right wing conspiracy”
    😆

  13. I’m going to offer up this to AG Barr:

God Speed safety and health to you, yours and whomever you bring onboard for this investigation, Mr. Attorney General.

  14. I shrugged my shoulder a little bit when he remarked he would be working closely with Christopher Wray…

    1. Don’t beat yourself up. I’m a Christian and Thankful to be one. I had a really hard time suppressing a big eye roll. Sure is hard to put anything over on God, right? Oh, well, not going to worry much about that anyway. Since when have the Dems or other than a handful in Congress, or a simple majority in the US Supreme Court given a hoot about God or what he says anyway? Not sure about the SC because they aren’t even ALLOWED to discuss their deeply held religious beliefs or even mention that they did or didn’t attend a “Catholic” school. I don’t particularly care whether they pray, or Who they do or don’t pray to. I might just gently suggest that they need to get some Wisdom from somewhere like yesterday, today or even tomorrow If they can take time out of their busy campaign schedules to meditate about that. Folks in Middle America are getting a wee bit weary of praying for leaders who never seem to pray for anyone, not even themselves. Well, from my limited perspective they may possibly be Beginning to pray ‘Oh, Jesus, Mohammed Anyone, could all of ya’ll just please, please, get me elected again? I’m beginning to wonder if I may soon be (shudder) “UnEMPLOYED’!!!!!!!

      1. Thanks conservative joy,I appreciate your thoughts.I just got back from a nice Mexican food dinner and a couple of margaritas and Wray with Barr might be ok.

  15. Barr mentioned the surveilling of the Viet Nam war protest groups.
Does anyone doubt that the Soviet Union was funding some of the protests?

  16. What I find interesting about what Barr said was he wasn’t going after the FBI and DOJ. That took away the criticism of he’s interfering with the IG Michael Horowitz……….and yes I heard someone say that last night on TV. However, he is going to go after the IC which means Brennan, Clapper and even Obama better lawyer up. Not just them but Susan Rice, Samantha Power and a few more, including at State.

    1. @sjmom

…he’s interfering with the IG Michael Horowitz…

The American PRAVDA (and its contributors) are always conflating issues in order to confuse the average ignorant Lefty and keep them in their box or on their dem plantation.

The Perkins Coie, Debra Katz (etc on leftist lawyers) are all going to be very busy soon. It’ll be one big lawyer brawl.

        1. Ya Darn Tootin, sjmom. If Avenatti doesn’t get around to proving something from what has now just become that Stupid Russian Dossier, they better force Trump to turn over your medical records, “Right Now!!”to find out if Trump even pees anymore. My bet is he has a hard time not peeing his pants every time he reads just one more of the Ridiculous assertions. Heck, so do a lot of really young folks. All you need is some kidneys, a bladder and a functioning Brain. Hey, Avenatti, wanna put some SKIN in That Game??????

  17. This is unbelievable. They (the Left) just raked Trump and everyone within six degrees of him over the coals for two years and it was totally bogus. Now they want to stop Barr from investigating their own perfidy. It’s disgusting and shouldn’t be tolerated.

  18. In semi-contrast with the points I made earlier, Andy McCarthy seems (at first) to rebut them in this article from last Thursday…

  19. So funny that they are still falling all over themselves to protect Comey, the same guy they blame for them losing the election.

  20. I am pleasantly surprised about Barr’s performance today. Time will tell if he will actually do something about the abuses of the Obama administration… but this is better than I could have hoped for.

  21. Let’s see if the likes of CNN and MSNBC finally cover the spying on the Trump Campaign story. My bet is no. They’ll only cover Barr getting grilled over the Mueller report.

    1. They are covering Barr’s statements so far today, but WaPo is saying Barr shouldn’t have said “spying” because that’s what Trump said and Orange Man Bad.

So, going forward, I would expect that to be the MSM’s position – anyone who says the word “spying” is forwarding a “Trump lie”

  22. That lady didn’t like that Barr said there was spying and she didn’t even like it that he wanted to look into it. It was obvious by the way she questioned him. Then, in the end that was cut off, she was suggesting that Barr investigate Trump for his abuse of power.

  23. Can we all say the Barr has been raised?

Will anyone go to jail? Just imagine, Strzok, Comey, McCabe, Page, Brennan, Clapper, Baker, Ohr, Judge Contreras, Susan Rice, Ben Rhodes, Lynch, Power, et al. in orange jumpsuits?

        1. @fr-paul
You mean, WE, … it would confirm the two-tier justice system we feared… just like a Banana Republic

      1. @hbnolikee
That would be the day America’s justice system returns to “Equal justice under the law.”

  24. We’d all love to know exactly what’s going on. But like watching smoke from a distance, we can’t tell what’s actually on fire, what’s smouldering, and who or what’s putting out the flames.

  26. And the anti-Trumpers cling onto their belief there was no spying.

They are in for a rude awakening.

  27. “Barr says that the question isn’t whether there was spying, but whether it was adequately predicated…”

The answer is NO. There was no evidence of collusion until the FBI/CIA tried to ENTRAP Trump campaign officials… the **** will hit the fan before the 2020 Presidential election. Just wait for it!!

Calling on Special Prosecutor Michael Huber and IG Horowitz… make American proud gentlemen. Show us we do not have a two-tier justice system!

  28. While the media and the left still have America in their grip with this horse and pony show, Tom Fitton with Judicial Watch is doing the work that our government should be doing. Investigating everything. Including our Federal Reserve, which as Tom reports, is the main source for illegals to send money home to their homeland. Billions of dollars every year. Read it and weep!

  29. I spy with my little eye…..a rotten govt. Well, it’s been that way for over a hundred years so it’s not like we didn’t see it getting progressively worse over time.

  30. Democrats want to posture about the importance of the rule of law, and of investigation of anyone who abuses power … until it leads back to the Obama administration.

Then it’s “Why do you feel the need to investigate?”

  31. Maybe, just maybe we might just see a move toward bringing justice to all the Obama criminals who tried to take down our legitimately elected President. Keeping my fingers crossed, but not expecting any miracles. The reality being that even the establishment Republicans don’t want to see any investigations that might convict “The One”.

In a sane world many of those traitors would have already had their date with the Leavenworth hangman.

  32. It would be lovely if justice is served in this matter. The “spying” seems about a covert as the noonday sun.

I’m a bad man. I started to read your response and quickly thought: “She’s kneeling under the desk of George Soros right now…” Sorry. 😮
