BREAKING: Barr appoints US attorney to investigate SPYING on Trump campaign

It’s just being reported that Attorney General Bill Barr has appointed a US attorney to investigate whether the 2016 spying on the Trump campaign was lawful:

WISHTV – Attorney General William Barr has appointed a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if intelligence collection involving the Trump campaign was “lawful and appropriate.”

That’s according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press on Monday. The person couldn’t discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The person said Barr has appointed John Durham, the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, to conduct the inquiry.

The inquiry will focus on whether the government’s methods to collect intelligence relating to the Trump campaign were lawful and appropriate.

Durham has previously investigated law enforcement corruption, the destruction of CIA videotapes and the Boston FBI office’s relationship with mobsters.

He will continue to serve as the chief federal prosecutor in Connecticut.

I love the fact that Barr isn’t backing down on all of this as the media and Democrats continue to obsess over the fact that he said the FBI ‘spied’ on Trump’s campaign.

It’s really turned into a circus around him, especially with some calling for his impeachment already.

Some guy who claims to be an MSNBC Justice and Security analyst just tweeted this out:

A gross politicization and huge abuse of power? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Democrats are flipping out and I’m loving it.

      1. Got me man. I think its 20 something year old lingo for “oh crap.”
Either way, the people under the microscope won’t like wants coming.

  1. I hope that Durham brings in a bunch of highly conservative agents and lawyers to go after the people who started the investigation. I’m really hoping that they have axes to grind against Comey, Brennan, Clapper, etc.

I want to hear the whine about how it’s not fair because Durham’s team is biased against Democrats or the people they’re going after. That would be sweet sweet music to my ears because I’d love posting old justification about how it was okay that a team of partisan Democrats went after Trump because “prosecutors don’t like the drug dealers they go after either” and other such bs excuses that we endured here.

  2. So the guy who investigated Mueller’s Boston office for their relationships with mobsters is getting this job?

    How interesting…

    1. Unfortunately people going to jail never seems to happen to anyone in D.C. who are well connected. However, I guarantee you there are some who have been sweating bullets over what will be uncovered ever since Barr uttered the word “spying” in the hearing.

  3. It Begins !!

Pres Trump, Constitutional Conservative Lincoln Republicans, National Populists, Civil Libertarians, Independents, aka We the American People will finally see Justice (we will be avenged) after a 2-3 yr massive Democrat conspired manufactured Russia collusion frame job scandal, aka “Operation Crossfire Hurricane”, who’s intent was to nullify a general election, remove a sitting US President duly elected by the people, ie; the will of we the American people, by Obama Hillary Democrat Deep State political ideologue bureaucratic zealots, aka a coup de’ te.

  4. Barr ‘s Expression tells you all you want to Know about what he is thinking .Those Democrats that threatened to hold him in contempt of Congress are now going to see how a real Attorney General plays hardball and they are not going to like it one bit.You can already see their tempers flaring.

  5. I wonder if Shifty Schiff’s eyes can get any bigger? He always looks so wild eyed when he protests. Demons. Watch he and Comey be on every single lefty station protesting too much.

  6. Reactionary leftists whining about “abuse of power,” like Hitler’s condemning Anti-Semitism!

  7. Keep the name, John Huber in mind because U.S. Attorney, John Durham has been working with Huber for several months. Michael Horowitz’s FISA investigation and subsequent report will have a devastating affect on the key players in the Russian collusion hoax. However, Huber’s investigation is reported to be more wide spread in its scope. His investigation includes the Clinton Foundation, Hillary’s e-mail/servers and much more.

The following is a March 31, 2018 Breitbart article written by Georgetown law professor, Johnathan Turley that provides a detailed explanation of why Sessions appointed Huber and the special powers this appointment affords Huber. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/03/31/turley-sessions-using-utah-federal-prosecutor-much-better-trump-2nd-special-counsel/

  8. Now, will the FBI raid the homes of Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Rice, Rhodes, Ohr, Strzok, Page et al.? Just like they did with Manafort and Stone?

  9. This investigation shouldn’t take that long… IG Horowitz and US Attorney John Huber have a head start into this… now, we need to see some indictments: Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Rice, Lynch, Rhodes, Power, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, Glenn Simpson, et al… and from what I’m hearing, the MSM played a role in this attempted coup.

I wonder if this amounts to TREASON…

        1. Still no. Even if you could prove that their explicit shared goal was to see Trump impeached (keeping in mind that impeaching the president is not a crime), removal of the president isn’t the same thing as overthrowing the government.

          1. @slantry Can you give me an example of sedition and how it would happen since we have 3 branches of gov’t? What about the story Rosenstein “wearing a wire” and trying to remove Trump by the 25th Amendment? Would that be sedition? Not saying he did just asking the question.

            1. No. Unless Trump is Louis XIV.

Sedition: you and I plan to displace the actual structure of one or more of the branches of government and put something else in its place.

              1. @slantry Thanks. Think you’re saying sedition would be extremely difficult to commit in this country. Guess that’s why the Founders made the three branches. Very smart men.

                1. I mean, all you have to do is hatch a plan with someone else to overthrow the government, which is seditious conspiracy. Actually successfully committing the crime of sedition would be a very heavy lift.

          2. The goal was to prevent the election of Trump and if that failed, to get him thrown out of office by FALSIFYING EVIDENCE. (I really wish I could block people here. It gets so annoying having to repeat the obvious.)

              1. @slantry The Obama administration weaponized the NSA, FBI, DOJ and the State Department to illegally conduct surveillance on U.S. citizens and especially the Trump campaign. Evidence shows that they were spying on Trump dating as far back as 2014.

During that time our intelligence agencies were part of a spying network that included four foreign countries. That spy network is known as “The Five Eyes Network”. This network consisted of the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The Obama administration used the Five Eyes Network to spy on our citizens, especially Trump, thus circumvent the law.

How is the Obama administration’s illegal use of foreign intelligence agencies to spy on an opposition candidate with the explicit goal of destroying that candidate’s chance of winning the 2016 presidential election not sedition?

                1. Because it doesn’t involve, as its object, the overthrow of the US government. That is the definition of sedition, and things that are not that do not become sedition because you think they’re really bad.

You’re basically asking me: “he stole $100 million: how is that not rape and murder?”

    1. What this tells me is Barr had enough evidence to appoint a US Attorney. Durham is the same guy who got the FBI convictions in the Whitey Bulger case. He’s been around for a long time and has prosecuted both the FBI and CIA.

        1. You’re correct… but Durham is able to prosecute as opposed to IG Horowitz. There’s something AG Barr knows that we don’t, regarding the spying.

          1. Except as to crimes occurring in Connecticut, to the extent that any crimes are found Durham will almost certainly turn them over to the appropriate US Attorney’s office.

        2. @slantry My point is Barr said he was going to look into it and he must’ve found some things.

          1. Or this is what he meant by “look into it,” which is a lot more likely. The AG doesn’t handle investigations himself.

            1. @slantry I’m just glad Barr did this and it sounds like he chose the right person. We really do need questions answered as to how this all began.

        1. @ciceroni-excogitatoris Not sure about Mueller. Going to have to let it play out. All I know is I think Barr chose wisely in picking Durham. Sounds like he’s not afraid to go after those in the gov’t who commit wrongdoing. I’m not a fan of Mueller to say the least but who I would like to see investigated is Andrew Weissmann. He ruined the lives of many people in the Enron case and got away with it plus a few other things, such as congratulating Sally Yates in disobeying a direct order from Trump who was president and attending Hillary’s victory party. There’s more too.

BTW, I have no problem with Mueller being investigated. Bring it on.

        2. @ciceroni-excogitatoris The Whitey Bulger case shouldn’t have gone on as long as it did. Bulger’s childhood friend, John Connolly was an FBI investigator. Connolly recruited Bulger as an FBI informant. Bulger used his connection to Connolly as a get-out-of-jail free card. That relationship allowed Bulger to think he was untouchable.

Bulger was known as the Boston bomber because he liked to use explosives to take out his enemies. Connolly covered for Bulger until he was convicted of racketeering, obstruction of justice, and murder charges stemming from his relationship with Bulger.

    2. @ciceroni-excogitatoris Huber is the king pin. His investigation is the MOAB’s. Horowitz’s investigation into the FISA abuses will make waves while Huber’s will be a tsunami.

  10. All you needed to know about libs is in their reaction to this news. People who have babbled about justice and “getting to the bottom” of things suddenly find the very idea of an investigation a proof of corruption. What a bunch of whiny little hypocrites!

    1. So true. They badgered us with the “Don’t you want to let Mueller reveal whatever he knows?” type questions. I bit my tongue and said, “Sure, fine. Finish the investigation. Mueller has nothing, but I’m all for being certain.”

Now that the tables have turned, they have completely lost their desire to be certain of what went down.

We really shouldn’t be surprised any longer by these people.

      1. I don’t think we are surprised by them – I think we are surprised by their dishonesty and blatant hypocrisy and all around lack of self-awareness.

IMO, never in the history of the world have so many ignorant idiots have had so much to say about things of which they know nothing!

  11. Has any one told the Dems that stomping their feet and yelling the equivalent “You’re a poopy head!!!” is not a good look nor a viable political strategy? Projection looks good on no one and is a sign of immaturity and sociopathy. All their machinations to overturn a legitimately elected president is basically coming to nought and all they’ve got is name calling for those who are investigating them. And they wonder why their approval ratings are sinking?

      1. Of course they are Doc, lol! I forgot to put my sarcasm notation in. Too early here and not enough coffee! ☕️

    1. Yea, but they don’t have to care. Their peeps will still Binary Choice them every single time.

    1. I really hope that at some point the investigators consult with Bongino. He has a law enforcement mind and can talk about the facts of the case in great detail.

  12. 16. Wray needs to get the boot. As FBI director, he should have had a press conference already of some massive clean-up and he FAILED! You’re fired!

The leftist media is exposed. They need to be investigated for their Collusion with the DNC! Funny how not a mention of this report on cnn.com!

    1. There’s very little chance that Wray isn’t part of the problem. Maybe he was just trying to work really hard to appear on the side of the Dems the other day… but it sure looked like he was throwing Barr under the bus.

Really, though, I don’t see how Wray (and Rod Rosenstein for that matter) weren’t neck deep in the shenanigans that took place.

      1. @trytothink Wray is definitely part of the problem. The Kavalec emails were not classified until last month and then Wray classified them to protect the FBI.

    2. @independentlibservative If Wray is smart he’s sending out resumes. He has to know he’s in trouble.

  22. Okay, this is TrumpRussiaColluuuuusion. So…

I kind of spaced out on whatever happened to, “That Russian Redhead,” who supposedly used sex and the NRA to somehow influence Trump regarding Russia, to help Russians… wait, what? To gain the right to keep and bear arms…

    Wait, WHAT??

Turns out she’s in jail now. For “working to help” who again? Putin? As if Putin wants Russians to own guns? As a “foreign agent of Russia?”

    WTaF?

Somehow she landed in jail because she thought bringing liberty to Russia–against the will of the oligarchs–and Putin–was part of “Trump collusion with Russia” or something.

This makes no sense to me.

Well, this insanity is explained very well in the second half of Byron York’s podcast (bonus: Byron York has a podcast!), where he interviews attorney Robert Driscoll, who represented both Maria Butina and Diana Denman in this whole “collusion” fiasco. It’s an eye opener, and no mistake…

    1. Expecting rational, critical thinking from a Leftist is like expecting the dog won’t cock his leg to the fire hydrant or mail box post upon arriving at it.

  25. A little O/T but I haven’t heard a peep about Don Jr. lately. I thought the sky was going to fall if he didn’t come in and testify again. Same for Barr. I guess this is the next fire the democrats need to put out. Again, kudos to Trump for putting the spurs to the jackasses. :envy:

  26. Democrats aren’t very smart. They pissed off Barr so now he will go all out to prosecute the corrupt lemmings.

    1. I don’t think this is happening out of anger or spite, it’s happening because
it is the right thing to do. It’s the only thing that will restore any semblance
of trust in our criminal justice system.

      1. Gino I know its not right to begin your investigation with anger or spite, however with everything that the AG has been called and even insinuating what he could do with himself i’m satisfied if he wants too start the Investigation being a little pissed off.

      2. I hope you’re right. I don’t want someone’s “feelings” to be a part of an investigation. I want the law and honest people to investigate it and honest people to prosecute it.

The left and their dang “feelings” have screwed up our laws enough – I hope the right is above that.

      3. I agree, Gino. I saw a clip of him as a young man being grilled, and his convictions seemed unchanged to me. The law and the Constitution are his focus.

  27. Kudos to Trump and Barr. I hope this goes somewhere.

So pathetic and again: hypocritical of the democrats to be whining about this. This is LONG overdue and honestly, this needs to be done. I hope that it leads to the criminals and that they are sufficiently punished. Hillary looks good in orange.

  28. Y’all hear that? It’s the MSM searching madly for dirt on U.S. Atty John Durham. Maybe Christine Blasey Ford went to kindergarten with him.
