Along with 14 others, Rep. Byron Donalds changed his vote today to Kevin McCarthy in the vote for Speaker.
He just made a statement on Twitter about the negotations he’s been having with the Speaker over the past few days and the significant progress they’ve made.
Over the past several days, I’ve worked alongside Speaker Designate @kevinomccarthy and several of my colleagues in good faith to ensure accountability, representation, and commitments from House leadership in the 118th Congress. The progress we’ve made is significant. (1/3)

What we’ve witnessed is monumental and a testament to how government should function in our Constitutional Republic. As we continue negotiations, I’m confident our conference is positioned to get the ball over the finish line. (2/3)

The Speaker’s Office must work for We The People, and I believe the concessions we’ve secured achieve this. Republicans are ready to govern and deliver results on behalf of our constituents and the nation. (3/3)

Donalds believes they’ll “get the ball over the finish line” for McCarthy to be Speaker. Which is honestly something that looks possible now.
But there are still several holdouts who will never vote for McCarthy. As long as they number less than four or five then I think McCarthy will get there.
