The DOJ is now suing the state of California over Gavin Newsom and the legislature’s Prop 50 redistricting map, joining a lawsuit filed last week by Dhillon Law Group.
Here’s the news from Constitutional and Election Law Attorney Mark Meuser:
The U.S. Department of Justice just filed a motion to Intervene in our lawsuit against the State of California over the Proposition 50’s map. We have filed a motion for an injunction requesting that the Federal Courts stop California from using the Prop 50’s maps and the DOJ is joining us in that motion.
We here at the @dhillonlaw welcome the support of the DOJ. Our lawsuit raises significant civil rights issues that warrant their participation. We remain hopeful that this case will protect millions of Californians whose voting rights the California legislature violated with Proposition 50’s unconstitutional congressional district map.
