Twitter is about to have a new owner – finally.

It’s just being reported that Elon Musk has just comfirmed that he will close his Twitter acquisition deal by Friday of this week:

Elon Musk yesterday pledged to close the acquisition of Twitter Inc. by Friday in a video conference call with bankers helping fund the deal, according to people with knowledge of the matter, Bloomberg News reports.

The banks, which are providing $13 billion of debt financing, have finished putting together the final credit agreement and are in the process of signing the documentation, one of the last steps before actually sending the cash to Musk, said the people.

I can’t believe it’s finally happening. We’ve been waiting since March of this year for Musk to take over the social media company and in a few days Twitter will be his. Then comes the much needed makeover.

Meanwhile, Twitter employees are responding to threats that Musk is going to signficantly reduce the workforce by writing him a letter, demanding he keep them on:

Suddenly the fascists who have been responsible for ‘canceling’ people’s accounts are now facing the threat of their own jobs being ‘canceled’. Yeah, good luck with that letter. And I don’t mean that.
