A federal judge in California has just issued an injunction on a billion dollars worth of funding Trump was going to use for building the border wall:
POLITICO – A federal judge has partially blocked President Donald Trump’s plan to fund construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The preliminary injunction issued Friday blocks the administration’s plan to transfer about $1 billion from other Defense Department accounts to cover expansions and enhancement of border barriers.
The funding injunction will affect certain wall construction areas where that funding was allocated for the wall:
Oakland, Calif.-based U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam’s order only limits construction in specific border areas in Texas and Arizona and does not prevent the administration from tapping other funding sources to advance those projects.
That last line may it sound like ‘oh no big deal’ but this is a billion dollars. That’s not pocket change when it comes to building the wall.
And as you might have suspected, Judge Hawyood Gilliam is….wait for it….another Obama judge who took the bench in 2014.
I’m sure the Trump administration will appeal this as quickly as they possibly can.
