Fox News reporter Bill Melugin just said on Fox News that they have a source who confirmed the WSJ reporting last night that President-elect Trump is considering replacing Pete Hegseth’s nomination, which seems in peril at the moment, with Governor Ron DeSantis for Secretary of Defense.
Melugin said that his source tells him “that reporting from WSJ is accurate” and “that Trump and DeSantis met face to face yesterday here in Palm Beach at an event for fallen law enforcement and talked about this.”
Melugin added his source says that Trump is “seriously considering Governor Ron DeSantis in that role for Secretary of Defense.”
UPDATE: Here’s a tweet from Melugin confirming this report:
NEW: Per source familiar, the WSJ reporting that Trump is considering FL Gov. DeSantis for SecDef is legitimate. I’m told Trump & DeSantis spoke face to face about it in FL yesterday at an event for fallen law enforcement, & Trump is “seriously considering” replacing Pete Hegseth…
