As we’ve reported, New York is essentially the epicenter of the virus in the US. Just to give you some idea of how fast it’s spreading up there…
Coronavirus outbreak, New York:
March 20: 7,102 cases
March 17: 1,700 cases
March 14: 613 cases
March 11: 220 cases
March 8: 105 cases
March 5: 11 cases
March 2: 2 cases— Philip Obin (@PhilipObin) March 20, 2020
I can understand why Cuomo would issue such an order in the face of this kind of growth. Even if we had plenty of Chloroquine to go around (and we don’t), when there are more patients than doctors and hospital beds, people will die waiting for care.
In related news, California did the same thing last night…
BREAKING: Governor of California has issued a STAY AT HOME ORDER: https://t.co/vcW6KcBIxq
Basically what LA and San Francisco did locally but STATEWIDE. @FOXLA— Gigi Graciette (@GigiGraciette) March 20, 2020
Fortunately California only has 1,039 cases at the moment. While that’s the third highest in the US, it’s significantly lower than New York.
