BREAKING! Guard dies from gun attack at U.S. Census building, gunman SHOT by police

Another shooting has taken place at a government building, this time striking the U.S. Census Bureau, where reports indicate a guard has been shot and taken to the hospital, while the gunman has barricaded himself inside the building.

The shooting is apparently connected to a police-involved shooting, in Northeast D.C., which ended with a suspect shot and two police officers injured.

Situation described as ‘active shooting’ inside the building.

At least one male is being treated for gunshot wounds to the upper-body.

The victim is a guard at the facility, He is in extremely critical condition.

Authorities investigating the shooting believe an earlier car chase involving police in D.C. may be related to the Census Bureau incident.

It’s unclear if a suspect has been apprehended.

The gunman was shot after a police chase during which shots were fired at pursuing police at 3rd and K streets in Northeast, Police Chief Cathy Lanier said. In the area of 11th and H streets, a busy section of northeast D.C., police were able to block the gunman’s path with their cruisers, causing a collision with the gunman’s dark green Honda.

In an exchange of gunfire with police, the gunman was shot multiple times, but there was conflicting information about his condition Thursday night.

The gunman, described by police only as a man in his 30s or 40s, is also a suspect in two other violent incidents Thursday, Lanier said: The abduction of his girlfriend, who has been found safe, in the 300 block of T Street NE, and a shooting on Bruce Place in southeast D.C.
