BREAKING: House leaders want to kick the can down the road on spending deal

Speaker Johnson and House leaders are so afraid of a government shutdown that they are now considering a ‘kick the can down the road’ approach.

According to new reports, they want to extend their spending authority until some time in March to give them time to avert a shutdown.

Here’s the news:

CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS are considering a stopgap funding bill that would extend spending authority until March 1 and March 8 — keeping intact @SpeakerJohnson’s laddered funding approach.

March 8/15 also under consideration.

BIDEN’s SOTU is March 7.

Nothing finalized yet. Decision expected this WEEKEND.

I don’t know why Speaker Johnson is so afraid of a government shutdown. It’s the only leverage House Republicans have and he is taking it completely off the table.
