The House Republican caucus will vote at 1pm for the role of House Speaker. Until just a few moments ago, there was only one man running for the job and that was Jim Jordan:
HOUSE REPUBLICANS will have a candidate forum at 1p. So far there’s just one candidate: Jim Jordan.

At 1 pm today, House Republicans are going to begin voting on a new Speaker of the House.
There's only one declared candidate: @Jim_Jordan… And he's the only one that has a legitimate shot to get to 217.
Yet RINOs are trying to stop it from happening because they can't stand…

At 1 pm today, House Republicans are going to begin voting on a new Speaker of the House.
There’s only one declared candidate: @Jim_Jordan… And he’s the only one that has a legitimate shot to get to 217.
Yet RINOs are trying to stop it from happening because they can’t stand the idea of having a Speaker that opposes giving endless amounts of money to Ukraine.
If you want Jim Jordan to be Speaker, you need to call your Rep right now: 202-224-3121
Ted Cruz also endorsed Jordan:
For years, I've stayed out of House leadership elections, but this time I endorsed @Jim_Jordan. Jim is a good friend and a strong conservative.
My philosophy on political endorsements is to support the strongest conservative who can win. That is Jim Jordan.

But now, Jim Jordan is not the only candidate. A new member has thrown his hat into the ring: Rep. Austin Scott from Georgia:
🚨NEWS — REP. AUSTIN SCOTT of Georgia has filed to run for the GOP nomination for speaker.
It will be SCOTT vs. JORDAN.
— Jake Sherman (@JakeSherman) October 13, 2023
As the world turns……Scott was the 2010 freshman class prez. now running against Jordan and will be a repository for anti-Jordan sentiment from the establishment https://t.co/tP4j0qxitd

If Sherman is right, then it sounds like we won’t have a clear winner needed to win on the House floor. We’ll see soon enough…
UPDATE:
You are not running to be Speaker.
You are running to stop Jim Jordan from being Speaker because protecting the interests of DC and Ukraine is more important to you than representing your voters.
Drop out and go away. https://t.co/2ArtsseFIR

UPDATE: Looks like there won’t be a floor vote today given some attendance issues:
Jim Jordan suggested to me that floor vote to elect speaker won’t be today bc of attendance issues.
“We’ll see how the candidate forum goes. We feel good, but we do have members both Republican and Democrat members who aren’t in time … you’ve got to allow some time to get back”— Manu Raju (@mkraju) October 13, 2023
