The vote on Brett Kavanaugh in the committee has passed by a majority vote and Kavanaugh’s vote will now go to the floor.
However Jeff Flake has flaked out on a final vote, stipulating that he can’t vote for Kavanaugh on the floor without a short investigation and no more than a week delay.
It’s also been suggested that there are other Republicans that may be interested in these ‘negotiations’, no doubt referring to Collins and Murkowski.
Only the leadership of the Senate, meaning McConnell, can make this happen. But if they don’t do it, Flake is probably going to vote no on the floor vote.
Flake claims the country is being ripped apart and that he’s just trying to do some due diligence to try and bring the country back together.
Here’s is Flake making is original recommendation:
JUST IN: Sen. Jeff Flake calls for delaying floor vote on Brett Kavanaugh "for up to and not more than one week" to allow FBI conduct an investigation. https://t.co/iKsKxRUq9t pic.twitter.com/rSi8qES3Ht

And here he is justifying this:
Flake: "This country is being ripped apart here, and we’ve got to make sure that we do due diligence. I think we can have a short pause and make sure the FBI can investigate" #tictocnews pic.twitter.com/Xn1yHMr6kn

UPDATE:
Here’s Lindsey Graham translating Jeff Flake’s motives:
GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham says he doesn't think the delay is necessary, but "this is democracy." Graham adds, "If Jeff feels better about it, I'll feel better about it" https://t.co/8TKfVFyZJC pic.twitter.com/xJxq9THmlk
