THE SUN – The parents of Charlie Gard have ended their legal fight for their critically-ill son to receive treatment overseas.
A lawyer representing Charlie’s parents told Mr Justice Francis that “time had run out”, a devastating decision for Chris Gard and Connie Yates who had dedicated five months to fighting for their son to travel to the US for treatment.
Their barrister Grant Armstrong told the court: “This case is now about time.
“Sadly time has run out.”
Mr Armstrong said Charlie’s parents had made a decision following the latest medical reports and scans.
He added damage to Charlie’s muscle and tissue was irreversible.
He said: “The parents’ worst fears have been confirmed.
“It is now too late to treat Charlie.”
