BREAKING: Man with flamethrowers, 500 rounds of ammo arrested outside NC church

A man armed with flamethrowers, crossbows, a handgun looking CO2 launcher, hundreds of rounds of ammo and wearing body armor, was arrested outside of a church yesterday in High Point, North Carolina.

Milliken is a white male aged 44.

Here’s more from WFMY:

High Point police arrested a Thomasville man Sunday morning outside a church after officers found him armed with flamethrowers, a CO2-powered launcher designed to resemble a handgun, crossbows and more than 500 rounds of ammunition during Sunday services, authorities said.

High Point 911 received a call around 10:15 a.m. about an armed man sitting in a truck in the parking lot of Wesley Memorial Church on Chestnut Drive. The caller reported the man had a gun and was wearing camouflage clothing. An off-duty officer working at the church responded immediately, with additional officers arriving within minutes.

According to High Point police, officers disarmed William S. Milliken III, 44, of Thomasville and took him into custody without incident. He was wearing a plate carrier — a type of body armor — at the time of his arrest. No one was injured.

A search of Milliken’s truck turned up additional items, including two crossbows, three knives, rolls of black duct tape and oxycodone pills.

Milliken faces charges of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, impersonation of a law enforcement officer and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He is being held at the Guilford County Jail in High Point.

High Point Police Chief Curtis Cheeks III credited both officers and the community member who called 911 for preventing the situation from escalating.

His charges, according to the High Point Police website are:

1) POSSESS CONTROL SUBSTANCE SCHEDULE II (MISDEMEANOR)
2) MANUFACTURE/POSSESS WEAPON OF MASS DEATH/DESTRUCT (FELONY)
3) IMPERSONATION LAW-ENFORCEMENT/OTHER PUBLIC OFFICER (MISDEMEANOR)

I hope it was worth it.
