Mark Levin indirectly called out President Trump for possibly interfering in upcoming Israel elections, by teasing that he may not endorse PM Bibi Netanyahu for reelection.
It began with President Trump posted this today:
In the article, Trump says he’s not ready to endorse Netanyahu yet and wants to see who else is running. He also chided Netanyahu for not being more rational. The article, as you can see above, clearly states that Trump is holding all the cards over Netanyahu’s reelection and Trump seems to revel in that.
Mark Levin, responding to a retweet of this by Eric Daughtery, wrote: “Surely we’re not interfering in another country’s election. We oppose that. Must be fake news.”
He’s not wrong, at least in general. What made Obama’s actions so reprehensible on this issue in the past was that he actually tried to undermine Netanyahu’s reelection bid by funding NGOs to oppose him. At this point, all Trump is doing is threatening to withhold his endorsement of Netanyahu.
But to be clear, Trump is doing this to exert more control over Netanyahu, just as we saw Biden try to control him over the last four years with respect to the war in Gaza. It’s not exactly the same thing, but it’s close enough to justify this comment from Levin.
Honestly though, if the roles were reversed, and the US was fighting a terrorist war with Mexico and Netanyahu was trying to keep world peace by negotiating with, say, a nuclear-wannabe Cuba, and Netanyahu was doing the same thing to Trump as we see Trump doing above, we’d likely all be quite incensed over it.
