Kevin McCarthy has pulled a member of the House Intel committee and replaced him with Jim Jordan ahead of the phony impeachment hearings that will happen next week:
NEW: Leader McCarthy temporarily removes AR Rep. Rick Crawford from the House Intelligence Committee, appoints OH Rep. Jim Jordan. Crawford says Jordan "will add critical bandwidth and legal expertise" to the upcoming public impeachment hearings. #NexstarDC #arpx pic.twitter.com/Bwg0UNnyGa

Here’s the announcement from McCarthy:
I am appointing @Jim_Jordan to the Intelligence Committee—which has now become the Impeachment Committee—where he will continue fighting for fairness and truth. @RepRickCrawford has been an exemplary member of the committee and will rejoin it when this Democrat charade is over.

They’ve been discussing this move all week. Chad Pergram reported on the 5th that Republicans were trying to get the best “matchup” for the impeachment hearings:
2) On prospective move of Jordan to Intel Cmte for impeachment, GOPers trying to get the best matchup. But Intel Cmte is a Select Cmte. Its mbrs are approved by the Spkr. Would Pelosi block such a move by GOPers? GOP would likely protest if Pelosi did so

Clearly Pelosi decided not to block the move, probably because a move like that would just reinforce the Republican complaint that this isn’t a fair process.
