Well this is a bummer. It’s being reported that McCloskeys, who were targeted by the BLM mob last year, have pleaded guilty to misdemeanors and have agreed to surrender their weapons:
WASHINGTON TIMES – A St. Louis couple who gained notoriety for pointing guns at social justice demonstrators last year pleaded guilty Thursday to misdemeanor charges.
Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment and was fined $2,000. Her husband, Mark McCloskey, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and was fined $750.
The couple also agreed to forfeit both weapons they used when they confronted several hundred protesters who were marching in front of their home in June of last year.
While I hate that they are pleading guilty to anything – because they were the victims in this entire saga – I imagine they are just ready to get this crap behind them so Mark can continue focusing on his campaign for US Senate.
The way it’s worded, I do wonder if they are simply giving up only the guns used to protect them from the mob and aren’t being prohibited from owning firearms. It would be a freaking travesty if they lost their rights to bear arms, so I sincerely hope that’s not the case.
Also, I was just reminded that the governor had promised to pardon the McCloskeys if they were convicted, so hopefully that’s still happening.
UPDATE: The governor just recently reaffirmed his commitment to pardoning the McCloskeys:
