OH BOY, it looks like Mueller has settled the issue about the insane Buzzfeed scoop that some people hoped would lead to Trump’s impeachment and imprisonment!
There were a LOT of signs that this one was false – often when scoops come out the White House doesn’t comment, or their comments are non-committal, but in this case, they were pretty clear. It took them a while to get out there, but they did.
Also, the reporter has a history with fake news scoops. AND one of the reporters said they hadn’t seen the evidence, while the one guy said he saw ALL the evidence. So the liberals and the media got burned by another hopeful anti-Trump story. Now go point and laugh at them…
So people are freaking out. “This is massive.” This does not happen often.
We cannot underestimate the statement disputing Buzzfeed’s story from the special counsel. I’m sure it pained them to do this. I’m sure this went through many levels at the DOJ and FBI. They don’t talk. This is massive.— Shimon Prokupecz (@ShimonPro) January 19, 2019
BUT BUZZFEED IS STANDING BY THE STORY?!?! WHAT??!
BREAKING: BuzzFeed News says "we are continuing to report and determine what the special counsel is disputing. We remain confident in the accuracy of our report."— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) January 19, 2019
HUH?!?! Oh man are they screwed LOL!
Here’s Fox News’s video on it:
They’re standing by the report!!!
In response to the statement tonight from the Special Counsel's spokesman: We stand by our reporting and the sources who informed it, and we urge the Special Counsel to make clear what he's disputing.— Ben Smith (@BuzzFeedBen) January 19, 2019
This is a shark feeding frenzy and a dumpster fire all at the same time. It’s a shark feeding frenzy inside a dumpster that is also on fire. WOW.
There are still some people out there hoping that maybe just maybe Mueller didn’t mean to implode the ENTIRE story, and maybe just maybe there’s a tiny chance it’s still somewhat true, maybe.
Well the Washington Post just pooped all over their hopes and dreams:
Inside the Justice Department, the statement was viewed as a huge step, and one that would have been taken only if the special counsel’s office viewed the story as almost entirely incorrect. The special counsel’s office seemed to be disputing every aspect of the story that addressed comments or evidence given to its investigators.
The explicit denial by the special counsel’s office is likely to provide further ammunition to complaints by Trump and his supporters that press coverage of him is unfair and inaccurate.
Mueller’s denial, according to people familiar with the matter, aims to make clear that none of those statements in the story are accurate.
Also enjoy this tweet, everyone is making fun of it right now:
So please *spare us all* your breathless tweets about how BuzzFeed isn't reliable because they don't do real journalism. They clearly do! And they clearly do it very well! You are just not very well read!— Jessica Huseman (@JessicaHuseman) January 18, 2019
