Nascar has just released a statement after they determined that the so-called noose that was left in Bubba Wallace’s garage has been there since last year and was not a hate crime:
NEW: FBI concludes that the reported noose placed in Bubba Wallace’s garage had been there since last fall and he was not the subject of a hate crime. FBI determines it was a garage door pull rope. pic.twitter.com/xqF3RYcguV

I don’t know what Bubba Wallace was thinking in his head when he saw it, but he should have recognized it as part of the rope that opens the garage doors. It’s been there since last year!
Here’s what I mean:
#nascarnoose solved. These images are all from the garages at Talladega SuperSpeedway.
Image 1 shows rope “nooses” are affixed to every garage bay door as a pull down.
Image 2 shows Bubba’s bay 4 in Nov. 2019.
Image 3 is of bay 4 after the incident. Notice the rope is cut. pic.twitter.com/2rHdSdgtOo

Below are the photos larger so you can see them:
Here’s a close up of the ‘noose’:
Here it is Folks. The Infamous "Noose" that NASCARS only Black Driver said was in his Garage at Talladega.

Again, I don’t know what Bubba was thinking, but here’s how he initially reacted to it:

I purposefully didn’t run the story because I was suspicious it was just another hoax just like we’ve seen time and time again. I’m not declaring this a hoax, but I’m sure some of his colleagues have some questions for him, like why didn’t he recognize it for what it was instead of rushing to assume it was a “despicable act of racism and hatred”.
UPDATE: Here’s the statement from the FBI:
A statement issued by U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town said that an investigation has concluded that no federal crime was committed.
“The FBI learned that garage number 4, where the noose was found, was assigned to Bubba Wallace last week. The investigation also revealed evidence, including authentic video confirmed by NASCAR, that the noose found in garage number 4 was in that garage as early as October 2019,” the bureau said. “Although the noose is now known to have been in garage number 4 in 2019, nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned to garage number 4 last week.”
Further details were not immediately released. The FBI said no charges would be pursued in relation to the incident.
So according to this, it was just a coincidence. I’m still not sure why Wallace nor his crew recognized it for what it was. I’m told that Wallace himself didn’t find it. But even so, once they did find it, you’d think they’d have recognized it. Or maybe hindsight is 2020…
UPDATE 2: Apparently Bubba never even saw the noose in the first place:
Wait…. Bubba never saw it but was all over media decrying the act based on second hand information? Did he ask to see a picture? Did he ask for ANY evidence? I’m sorry, that’s not acceptable either. https://t.co/7UFIk5Nx2S

I’ve got the same questions Howerton does. Why did he rush to judge it a symbol of hate before investigating?
Also there’s this:
Unfortunately (fair or unfair), this interview will stick with Bubba for awhile in terms of his reputation. https://t.co/GSfycl7QzB
