Apparently the governor of Ohio has taken a lot of hits after vetoing a bill that would have banned transgender surgeries on minors in his state. So much so that he just bizarrely issued an executive order banning exactly that from all hospitals and care facilities.
It looks like the governor is now trying to backtrack or something:
🚨BREAKING: Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signs "emergency" executive order banning transgender surgeries✂️ for minors one week after vetoing a bill that would have banned them. 🧵https://t.co/w8FgX2dBdO pic.twitter.com/3J9owNWywC

DeWine notes that he vetoed HB68 but he agreed with its section banning sex-reassingment surgeries for minors. The EO says the new rules "prohibit gender transition surgeries on anyone under the age of 18 in Ohio’s hospitals and health care facilities."⚕️ pic.twitter.com/eHJcWctbJJ

DeWine framed his veto as an effort to bring consensus on a divisive issue and to avoid having the government decide what medical decisions are best for children. He also claimed that a bureaucratic rulemaking process would be more likely to survive court challenges.

Yet the governor also echoed pro-transgender activists who claim that minors with gender dysphoria will commit suicide if they can’t take hormones or undergo other “treatments” to make their bodies resemble those of the opposite sex.

The governor said when he vetoed the bill which banned transgender surgeries that “Ohio would be saying that the state, that the government, knows better what is medically best for a child than the two people who love that child the most, the parents.”
So why then turn around and issue an executive order that bans the surgeries, effectively saying that the state knows best?? It makes no sense.
The legislature needs to override DeWine’s veto and Ohio needs to kick this clown out of office.
