The rumors were true. Orrin Hatch has just announced he’ll retire at the end of his term and not run for reelection:

As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of a potential Senator Mitt Romney and I hope we run a solid conservative candidate for Hatch’s seat. However if Romney wins, which seems highly likely given his popularity, he can’t be much worse than Hatch. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
