Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is at NATO headquarters this morning and told everyone there that while the war must end in Ukraine, they can’t go back to pre-2014 borders. Meaning, Russia must keep control of Crimea:

Ukraine has no ability to retake Crimea. Even if they could militarily, they’d be walking into an insurgent nightmare given how loyal the area is to Russia.

He also made clear that Ukraine would not become part of NATO.
