BREAKING: President Trump asks Ted Cruz to argue Texas case before Supreme Court

It looks like Ted Cruz might have another Supreme Court attorney gig if the high court decides to hear oral arguments in the election case Texas is bringing against Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin:

THE HILL – President Trump has asked Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) to present a case from his state’s attorney general seeking to invalidate the election results of several key battleground states before the Supreme Court should the court decide to hear the suit, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The lawsuit, from Texas’s Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), seeks to void the election result certifications of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia and Michigan, arguing that election results are “tainted” by new election processes in those states.

The court has not yet agreed to hear the case on its merits, and on Tuesday rejected efforts by pro-Trump attorneys to overturn the results in Pennsylvania in a separate case.

White House officials did not immediately return a request for comment from The Hill.

I checked Ted Cruz’s twitter feed and thus far I haven’t seen a response from him on the matter, so I don’t know if he’s officially accepted the gig.

But I expect he will accept or already has accepted, given that he reportedly offered to argue the case yesterday.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear more from the Supreme Court tomorrow.
