President Donald Trump’s younger brother, Robert Trump, passed away tonight. He’s been ill, and the President traveled to New York to be with him.
The President visited his brother in the hospital on Friday.
“It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight,” said the President on Saturday in a statement. “He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”
May he rest in peace.
NOTE: There has been disagreement among media outlets about whether Robert Trump was 71 or 72 years old, with some reporting one way and some the other.
Note: Robert Trump was born in 1948, but it is unclear whether he was 71 or 72 when he died.

A few outlets have, since publication, updated their pieces to say 72 years, and so we will do the same.
Note 2: A lot of outlets have now switched back to 71, so we’re switching back.
