It’s being reported now that a new Senate agreement being negotiated has the Ukraine aid dollars as high as $173 billion. That’s an insane amount and for what? I’m sure only modest border concessions by Democrats.
Here’s the news:
🧵💸New Ukraine “aid” bill would bring the total to over $173 billion, over $1,300 per American household and over $11,500 per Ukrainian household.
This will continue to drive higher inflation and mortgage rates across the US – making every American family pay the price.

If this new bill is implemented, our total aid to Ukraine will be more than the annual wages paid out to every American worker in all agriculture, mining, and oil and gas extraction industries.
Another glaring example…

New federal spending is driving prices and interest rates, especially mortgage rates, sky-high. Since Biden took office, interest payments on a new median mortgage have tripled. pic.twitter.com/9ZC4NwuHkL

Thread by my based colleague @RichAStern on Congress trying to drive Ukraine aid to $173 billion. That's roughly 75 times what we spend on homeless veterans.

I hope Senate Republicans don’t plan to go along with this, but something tells me plenty of them will aid Democrats in passing it. And enough in the House probably will as well…
