Media: @arwaCNN is reporting to @BrookeBCNN that the #Saudis are going to concede that the Journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed as the result of an interrogation that went wrong. Sources caution that this is preliminary and the outlines of the rationale may shift. pic.twitter.com/5T1NN4HNuB

This may coincide with what former Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell suggested, that this was an interrogation or rendition gone awry:
Jamal Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate 10 days ago & did not emerge. Turkish officials said footage shows up to 15 Saudis arriving in Turkey for what may have been a mission to capture Khashoggi. Something then went awry, @MichaelJMorell says https://t.co/ZoAdtWJm60 pic.twitter.com/N0bTMwHyVB

But going ‘awry’ doesn’t explain it away. As the Executive Director of Human Rights Watch asks…
If that's the Saudis claim, it's hardly exculpatory:

1. Does an "interrogation that went wrong" mean they beat him so hard he died?
2. Only intending to commit a "lesser" violent crime (drugging someone for abduction) still is murder if death results (see felony murder doctrine). https://t.co/8EUy74sbiw
