BREAKING: Rocket attacks strike Baghdad’s secure Green Zone, Balad Air Base where U.S. troops are stationed

On Saturday rocket attacks hit both the Baghdad Green Zone, which houses the U.S. embassy, as well as Balad Air Base north of Baghdad, where U.S. military members are stationed, the Iraqi government reported.

Currently there are no reports of casualties. At least one rocket hit within the 10-square mile “Green Zone”, striking Celebration Square. The American embassy was not hit.

At Balad, there were multiple hits, with not total yet reported, and so far there have been no reports of casualties, though the country and the situation are chaotic and the press reports are sparse.

Yet another attack hit the Jadiriyah neighborhood of Baghdad, across the river from the Green Zone, NBC adds.
