The Secret Service has just released an update on the shooting that occurred near the White House that led to agents pulling Trump to a safer location:
The Secret Service can confirm there has been an officer involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. Law enforcement officials are on the scene. More information to follow.

Not only was the suspect wounded, but an officer was also wounded in the altercation. We don’t know how, but there were reporters earlier of two gunshots. In fact Fox News reporter John Roberts said that one gunshot sounded louder than the other, suggesting it may have been from two different guns.
If the suspect shot the officer or wounded him somehow, you can even more easily understand why Trump was taken to the Oval Office. They probably wanted to ensure that there wasn’t more going on that could be a threat to the president.
In case you missed it, here’s the moment the Secret Service asked Trump to come with them:
Something really strange just happened during the press conference, a person interrupted the President to inform him of something and the President left the briefing pic.twitter.com/k04ciYPMTd

As a side note, Democrats are already trying to figure out ways to spin this to hurt Trump:
Secret Service didn't pull George W. Bush out of the room when he was reading "The Pet Goat" in an elementary school during the 9-11 attacks. He finished the book. Seems strange to me that Trump would be hustled out of an extremely secure room in the WH in these circumstances.

No it’s not strange. The shooting happened near the White House and Trump was on TV live, so the whole nation knew exactly where he was at that specific time. If something more was at work here, Trump could have been at risk. It was the right call and only morons who hate the president are going to try and spin it otherwise.
