The Senate has just defeated the Democrat Jan 6th Commission bill to investigate the riot at the Capitol earlier this year as if it was 9/11 or something:
#BREAKING: Senate fails to get enough votes 54-35, to open debate on bill to create an outside commission to probe Jan. 6 attack. This is their first successful legislative filibuster this Congress.

54-35 means that 11 Senators didn’t vote.
But there were still six Republicans who voted for the bill and none of these names will surprise you:
Breaking: Jan. 6 commission fails to advance in the Senate, 54-35. Needed 60 votes to break a GOP filibuster.
Republicans who voted yes:
Collins
Cassidy
Murkowski
Sasse
Romney
Portman11 senators were absent for the vote, including a few of the Republicans who voted to impeach.

Bill Cassidy (LA)
Rob Portman (OH)
Ben Sasse (NE)
Mitt Romney (UT)
Lisa Murkowski (AK)
Susan Collins (ME)
The fact that they chose to vote on this with 11 Senators absent just proves that this bill was doomed from the start. Who knows if it would have passed otherwise, but it’s officially dead now so that’s the great news.
UPDATE: Here’s the names of the Senators absent from the vote today:
11 Senators who missed this Jan 6 Commission procedural vote:
Blackburn
Blunt
Braun
Burr
Inhofe
Murray
Risch

Just to be clear, that’s nine Republicans and two Democrats absent today.
