The Senate Democrats have now blocked a bill that would get Trump’s approval to reopen the government as well as fund the border wall:

— The Associated Press (@AP) January 24, 2019
This isn’t surprising, as there’s still enough intransigence to keep the government shutdown going.
What is surprising is that the AP actually wrote that it was the Democrats who blocked the bill. The Boston Globe wrote the same thing:
#BREAKING: Senate Democrats block GOP-backed bill that would have funded wall, reopened government https://t.co/JXcxnD3eip
— The Boston Globe (@BostonGlobe) January 24, 2019
Other outlets made it sound much more generic:

The vote was 50-47 not 51-47, which was announced on the Senate floor. https://t.co/FfHf603Vc5

Just 50 votes? I thought we had more seats than that in the Senate? Also, doesn’t that include Manchin??
The vote was announce incorrectly—it's 50-47 (not 51-47) on Trump's plan. Defectors are Manchin (D) voting yes, and Cotton (R) and Lee (R) voting no.https://t.co/8NGd7LyB8m

Wow. Both Lee and Cotton apparently didn’t support it? Didn’t see that coming.
Clearly it wouldn’t have helped getting them to the 60 vote threshold, but still, I’m not sure why they’d vote against it. Does this have something to do with the Russian sanctions?
Also it appears that Rosen, Paul, and Risch didn’t vote.
In any event, the Democratic proposal to reopen the government for two weeks is being voted on now. And it’s expected to fail as well. And since Pelosi and her House Democrats have left Washington, don’t expect any further movement until next week.
Oh here we go. It failed, and here’s the defections:
