The Senate just passed their stopgap government funding bill to avoid a shutdown just days before the deadline, which is end of day tomorrow. This would just kick the can until March instead of funding the the government for the rest of the year.

News: The Senate has voted 77-18 to PASS the short-term stop-gap government funding bill to avert a partial government shutdown that would happen at the end of the day on Friday if Congress were to fail to act.
Heads to the House.

I’ll post the 18 who voted against this as soon as I get it.
As far as the House goes, the WSJ says that Johnson is going to rely heavily on Democrat votes to get this passed. They write “the speaker is planning to put the bill on the floor under procedures requiring two-thirds of House votes. By doing so, he bypasses the need for a procedural vote that GOP dissidents would likely block but will now have to lean heavily on Democratic support just as McCarthy did—never a good look for a Republican leader.”
