This morning Trump took another swipe at his Attorney General, saying that he never took control of the Justice Department:
“I put in an attorney general that never took control of the Justice Department,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with “Fox & Friends” recorded on Wednesday and aired on Thursday morning. “Jeff Sessions never took control of the Justice Department and it’s a sort of an incredible thing.”
He later asked: “What kind of man is this.”
Sessions, who normally shys away from responding to Trump’s barbs, decided he would defend himself today:
Wow. He said “the DOJ will NOT be improperly influenced by political considerations”, which is clearly aimed right at Trump.
I’ve never liked the public broadsides and barbs Trump has leveled at Sessions. It’s very unprofessional and unseemly to do such a thing, but then Trump is often very unprofessional and unseemly.
That said, I do agree with Lindsey Graham here:

Sessions has clearly lost Trump’s faith, which is not necessarily his fault, but it is the current situation and unless he can regain it – which seems improbable – he should probably move on and let Trump pick someone else.
