Speaker Johnson’s border bill that conservatives like Chip Roy called a “total and complete failure” just failed to pass the House in today’s first vote of the foreign aid package.
The bill needed 2/3rds of the House to pass and barely got a majority:
The House GOP border bill failed 215-199. It was considered under suspension of the rules, which requires 2/3 majority for passage.
