The Supreme Court has given Ted Cruz a big victory this morning in his lawsuit against the FEC over the repayment of campaign loans:
The Supreme Court sides with Sen. Ted Cruz in his First Amendment challenge to a federal campaign-finance law that limits how and when candidates can recoup loans that they make to their own campaigns. The vote is 6-3 along ideological lines.

Back in 2018 Ted Cruz loaned his campaign $260k for his reelection, but federal election law sets a maximum repayment cap of $250k. Meaning he wasn’t allowed to pay himself back all of the money he loaned his campaign.
Ted Cruz sued the FEC and won in district court, with the court striking down the law.
The FEC appealed to the Supreme Court and now they’ve lost again, with the court siding with Cruz by a vote of 6-3.
