BREAKING: Trump addresses Iran charging tolls for ships in Strait of Hormuz

President Trump was asked this morning by ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl about the prospect of Iran charing tolls for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Here’s what he said:

This morning, I asked President Trump if he’s okay with the Iranians charging a toll for all ships that go through the Strait of Hormuz, he told me there may be a Joint US-Iran venture to charge tolls:

“We’re thinking of doing it as a joint venture. It’s a way of securing it — also securing it from lots of other people.”

“It’s a beautiful thing.”

I’d be more interested in finding out exactly how this is going to work. If Iran is going to be able to charge tolls, I would prefer it be a joint venture with the US so that it’s more fair to all ships. I just don’t think Iranians can be trusted to operate something like this solo.
