President Trump just announced a move by his administration to protect the free flow of Maritime trade through the gulf during and after the war, which is to offer political risk insurance and guarantees to all Gulf ships.
He even said that, if necessary, he’ll order the Navy escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz asap.
Here’s what he said:
Effective IMMEDIATELY, I have ordered the United States Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to provide, at a very reasonable price, political risk insurance and guarantees for the Financial Security of ALL Maritime Trade, especially Energy, traveling through the Gulf. This will be available to all Shipping Lines.
If necessary, the United States Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, as soon as possible. No matter what, the United States will ensure the FREE FLOW of ENERGY to the WORLD. The United States’ ECONOMIC and MILITARY MIGHT is the GREATEST ON EARTH — More actions to come. I would imagine there’s quite a bit of reticence by companies to send their ships through the Gulf right now, especially with Iran firing missiles and drones into all the Gulf States. Clearly Trump is trying to get this back on track.
