BREAKING: Trump tells Republicans to vote for McCarthy and take the victory, suggests he might do a great job…

This morning President Trump made clear his support for Kevin McCarthy, telling Republicans to vote for him as Speaker and to take the victory.

He told Republicans not to turn “a great triumph into a giant and embarrassing defeat”.

And he said most of it into all caps, which I guess means he’s super serious:

Honestly this sounds a little forced. At the end Trump says “Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB.”

Maybe even a great job? That doesn’t really sound like the vote of confidence McCarthy probably wanted.

It kinda seems like what we said yesterday when Trump refused to voice his support for McCarthy to an NBC reporter, that he doesn’t sound all that enthusiastic.

But the big question is will this make a difference in the voting today? I doubt it, but I guess we’ll find out…
