We’ve all been waiting for Trump’s tweet in the aftermath of Qassem Suleimani’s assassination and now we have it:
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 3, 2020
As you can see Trump tweeted only the American flag, which many are interpreting as a sign of victory and a confirmation that the US assassinated Suleimani and al-Muhandis.
According to Joyce Karma, the Pentagon has confirmed the Iraqi strikes and they are now making contingency plans:
• IRGC Leader Qassem Suleimani Killed: Iran TV confirms
• Iraq Militia Leader Muhandis Killed
• Third high commander may be killed

CNN’s Sciutto also confirms it:

UPDATE: Just wanted to drop this tweet from a Fox News reporter here:
State Department says Iran responsible for killing 608 U.S. troops during Iraq War.
Qasem Soleimani led all Iranian and Iranian-backed forces in those operations.

UPDATE: The Pentagon has just released this statement:
Walid Phares had suggested this earlier tonight, that the US attack might have been to fend off a massive attack being planned by Iran:
Is the ongoing US operation a preemptive strike at a massive attack that was under preparation by Iran and its allies?
