BREAKING: US Marshals shoot suspected carjacker outside DC home of Supreme Court Justice

A suspected carjacker pulled a gun on the wrong bodyguards outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor early this morning.

One of the two US Marshals fired his weapon at the suspected carjacker, who has since been arrested and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Here’s a little more from the New York Post:

Two deputy US Marshals shot a suspected carjacker who pulled a gun out on them as they were guarding Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s home in Washington DC, officials said.

The deputies were parked outside Sotomayor’s home in northwest DC on July 5, when Kentrell Flowers, 18, allegedly walked up to one of their cars at around 1:15 a.m. and pointed a gun at the bodyguard, the US Marshals office told The Post.

The Marshal drew his weapon and fired several shots at the suspect, who was arrested and treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The only thing shocking about this is that it happened at the home of a Supreme Court justice, which makes me wonder if the perp even knew where he was when he tried to jack the car.

But the fact that it happened in DC doesn’t surprise me at all considering how bad crime is in the Democrat-run city.

The Post says they don’t know if Sotomayor was home at the time, but given that it was well after midnight, I’d say she was probably there.

UPDATE: This is a good point:

I’m glad she’s okay, but it’s ironic that a woman who consistently votes against Second Amendment protections requires an armed bodyguard for defense against something that some citizens have fallen victim to. Prioritizing your safety above that of the average American should warrant your removal from the bench.
