There’s been a new controversy surrounding Stephen Colbert and an interview he did with Texas Democrat James Talarico, who is running for the US Senate.
Last night Colbert announced that his network lawyers told him not to air the interview with Talarico, claiming Trump’s FCC is trying to silence him. Talarico is claiming the same thing.
The New York Post explains it all:
But this evening, Jasmine Crockett, who is running against Talarico, said in a presser that neither Trump nor the FCC shut down the interview. Instead, she points out, that she’s been told the decision was made by either CBS or Colbert, because they were afraid the FCC might say something to them about violating the ‘equal time rule.’ She also added that Colbert could have had her on in order to comply with the FCC rule, but he didn’t want to do that.
Watch:
Wow, Crockett can tell the truth when it’s in her self-interest to do so. Hilarious as well, since she’s essentially calling Colbert and Talarico liars. And she’s right about it.
What’s ironic is that Colbert doesn’t seem to want to support Crockett. As much as I dislike him, he’s not wrong. But Talarico is also trash, and neither of them is going to win in Texas.
