President Trump just announced 25% tariffs on all automobiles not being made in America and it begins on April 2nd.
Here’s the announcement:

President Trump believes this will mean more and more jobs for Americans as car companies bring manufacturing back nto the states.
As an aside, he was asked if he and Elon Musk had ever talked about this and he plainly said ‘no’, adding that Elon would have a conflict of interest and they’ve never talked about it. He went on to say he was surprised Elon had never asked him for something that would help his companies – and that he might do it or he might not, depending on what’s right.
