President Trump announced this morning that he’ll be filing a lawsuit to end the “Blue Slip” tradition in the U.S. Senate because he says it violates his constitutional right to make appointments.
Here’s his announcement:
The Senate will claim that this falls under their constitutional right to “Advice and Consent”, but I’m not sure that it does. Because it’s not the entire Senate deliberating on these nominations, but rather the two Senators from a given state. I really think Trump has a good lawsuit here, and it will undoubtedly go all the way to the Supreme Court where Trump will seek an injunction against the tradition.
