BREAKING: Walmart announces NEW gun control policies including NO more handgun ammunition

In the aftermath of the two mass shootings that occurred in Walmart over the summer, CEO Doug McMilllon announced today new gun control policies the store is adopting in response to the shootings, namely that they are no longer going to sell handgun and AR ammunition:

  1. “After selling through our current inventory commitments, we will discontinue sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips on military-style weapons”

  2. “We will sell through and discontinue handgun ammunition”

  3. “We will discontinue handgun sales in Alaska, marking our complete exit from handguns”

In addition to this they are asking people to no longer “open carry” firearms, even in states where it is allowed:

We are respectfully requesting that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores or Sam’s Clubs in states where “open carry” is permitted – unless they are authorized law enforcement officers.

Walmart sells a lot of handgun ammunition, so this is a huge hit to customers. Once again, law-abiding gun owners will have to suffer when none of this will have any effect on mass shootings. It’s pathetic.
