UPDATED! Kennedy granddaughter dies from drug overdose at Kennedy compound…

Holy crap. A report out of the Kennedy compound says a young woman was found dead there today.

And, it’s the 50th anniversary month since Ted Kennedy killed Mary Jo Kopechne.

From the Washington Examiner:

A woman is reportedly dead from a drug overdose at the Kennedy compound in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, according to local WCVB.

Emergency crews found the 22-year-old young woman in cardiac arrest when they responded to calls from one of the homes at the sprawling property made famous as the retreat of the Kennedy family for generations.

The house is owned by Ethel Kennedy, 91, the widow of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968.

Wow. More details will be added as they come in.

UPDATE 2:

It turns out it was a Kennedy granddaughter.

A granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy died on Thursday afternoon after suffering an apparent overdose at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Mass., according to two people close to the family.

The young woman, Saoirse Kennedy Hill, 22, was the daughter of Courtney Kennedy Hill. She was at the compound where her grandmother, Ethel Kennedy, 91, lives when emergency responders were called on Thursday afternoon, the family friends said. She was taken to Cape Code Hospital in Hyannis, where she was pronounced dead.
