Brit Hume apologized for a tweet where he accused Democrats of not loving America.
Brian Stelter was ON IT:
This is the tweet @brithume deleted, claiming that Democrats don't "love" America. He cited a Gallup poll… but the poll asked if people are "extremely proud" to be Americans… a diff Q. "Extremely" happy 4th, everyone! pic.twitter.com/FgcXztq96j

So apparently he deleted it because there’s a difference between not being “proud” of America, which is in the poll he posted, and “loving” America.
I deleted an earlier tweet that said Democrats don’t love America. It was based on a Gallup poll that found only a minority of Dems now very proud of this country. A number of people said they think that’s not a fair conclusion from the poll. I agree and thus the deletion.

He responded to a few critics before the deletion and defender what he said:
It’s based on a Gallup poll. Did you even read it? Only about a third of Democrats now say they love the country.

Um, the comment is based on a poll, whose results are available at the link provided. Did you even read it? Love of America is now a distinct minority opinion among Democrats, according to Gallup.

I’m sure many here will agree that Democrats don’t love the country, and that might be somewhat true, but there IS a distinction between loving and being proud in. I’m sure most parents love their kids, but they’re not always proud of what they’ve done. In the same way, you can love America, and not be proud of what the government is doing – just like Republicans and conservatives (all dozen of them) were under Obama.
