Chicago police release bodycam video of officer shooting 13-yr-old after he pulls out gun, but the media is LYING about it

The media is doing it again. They are intentionally pushing the ‘white cop kills innocent minority kid’ narrative when the story is not nearly that simple.

First, let’s begin with the official video of the police bodycam video just released:

Everything is moving fast, but before the kid turns around to face the officer, he clearly has a gun in his hand, which you can see in the screenshot below from Ryan Saavedra, that I’ve confirmed against the video above:

Given the officer’s actions, he more than likely saw the gun and fired to defend himself. But as he’s firing, the kid drops the gun behind the fence as he’s turning around and putting his hands up – and unfortunately it’s too late then, as it was a fatal wound.

If you keep watching the video, you clearly see the cop trying to save the kid’s life.

Now, this is how CBS News is framing this in their tweet about it:

As he appears to comply with orders? No, no he didn’t. The officer told him over and over to stop and show him his hands. The kid did stop eventually, but instead of showing the officer his hands, he pulled a gun out of his pocket. That’s when the officer told him to ‘drop it, drop it! and fired, presumably, to protect himself.

How can the officer be blamed for defending himself when he saw the kid pull out a gun? Especially when it was dark outside!

And notice that CBS edited out the portion of the video where the kid had the gun in his hand. Completely irresponsible!

The USA Today’s pushes the same narrative, even more bluntly:

Here’s what they wrote in their article:

According to one officer’s bodycam video, he pulls up in a car, gets out, pushes past another man and runs down an alley shouting “stop” toward Adam, who is dressed in jeans, a sweatshirt and white baseball cap. Adam runs away from the officer, then slows down and pauses near a fence.

Adam can be seen tossing what appeared to be a gun behind the fence as he slows down, according to surveillance video shot from across a parking lot. The video shows the gun coming to rest on the backside of the fence.

That’s when the officer ordered Adam to show his hands, according to his bodycam video. The officer shouts for Adam to “stop it” or “drop it.” Adam turned toward the officer and put his hands up. The footage is grainy, but he did not appear to have a gun in either hand at that moment. The officer fired his weapon less than a second after Adam turned around to face him with his hands raised.

No no no! That’s absolutely wrong. The officer clearly told him to show him his hands first, and then when he saw the gun he told the kid to drop it. That’s when the kid threw the gun behind the fence as he turned around. But the officer couldn’t see him throwing the gun around the fence. He just saw the kid turning around to face him after he’d seen him holding the gun. If the kid had just dropped the gun right there where the officer could see it and then raised his hands, he’d still be alive today.

That’s a crucial piece of information that they are intentionally leaving out. Again, completely irresponsible.
