This is very vague. This could be the alleged attackers, or it could just be witnesses that the police want to talk to. We can’t surmise too much at this point from the evidence reported.
Then there’s this – the guy’s manager says he heard some of the attack because he was on the phone with Smollet:
Smollett’s music manager also confirmed that he was on the phone with the actor at the time he was attacked in Chicago, and that he heard some of what transpired.
Brandon Z. Moore, who represents Smollett, told Variety that he gave his account to police authorities, but declined to go into details because it is an active investigation.
Interesting.
AND the cops changed their tune on whether the guy told them he yelled MAGA:
I would caution anyone from drawing hasty conclusions, whether they’re yelling “it’s MAGA’s fault,” or if they’re screeching, “it’s a hoax!!” There are no prizes for being the first one with a hot take.
UPDATE!!!
So the cops released their screenshots, and they are… underwhelming.

Remember we are being told the quality of the images is not great. Obviously depends on type of camera. Don't know if this is a city, private or business camera.

I mean, good luck with that. That could be anyone, especially in a huge city like Chicago.
