Yesterday, Nation editor Chris Hayes claimed that Michele Bachmann is gaining traction in the GOP presidential primary in part because she appeals to a “bizarre Founding Father fetishism” that he feels is taking over American politics. Naturally, he says this bizarre phenomenon is rooted in racism – not only because many of the Founding Fathers were white slave-owners, but because we currently have a black President in the White House. Never mind how far into oblivion Obama is spending us or any of his other destructive policies. If anyone criticizes him – especially by citing, say, Thomas Jefferson – then they must be a racist with a bizarre fetish, or something.
This is yet another sickening example of a so-called “progressive” commentator who despises the U.S. Constitution and probably hates America itself to boot. Hayes even goes so far as to say that looking back to the Founding Fathers is “a completely preposterous means of going about crafting a governing policy for the country.”
I suppose he believes we should just make up the rules as we go along.
