Chris Matthews worries about ‘white flight’ from Obama

This segment starts out with a false premise – a poll that measures Obama’s approval/disapproval rating among white voters, and thus its impact on Obama. I wonder if they ever measured ‘white’ approval/disapproval of Bush. Anyway, they discuss it as if Obama will be a victim of the ‘white vote’, instead him being a victim of his horrible policies that have, and still are, adversely affecting all Americans. Matthews goes on to discuss the economy and again infers that Obama is a victim of a bad economy that will hurt him in November among white older voters. But do they ever once mention the trillion that he spent to try and fix it? Do they ever lay blame at Obama’s feet?

While none of this is surprising, it’s still somewhat infuriating. All Chris Matthews and his ilk at MSNBC see is black and white, and a president who can do no wrong. They see people divided in groups based on income and skin color. It’s almost always about skin color, and not about anything substantive. Maybe Matthews needs to hear the words of a very famous President who didn’t see groups of people, but saw Americans:

We hear much of special interest groups. Well, our concern must be for a special interest group that has been too long neglected. It knows no sectional boundaries or ethnic and racial divisions, and it crosses political party lines. It is made up of men and women who raise our food, patrol our streets, man our mines and factories, teach our children, keep our homes, and heal us when we’re sick – professionals, industrialists, shopkeepers, clerks, cabbies, and truck drivers. They are, in short, “we the people,” this breed called Americans.

I do miss Ronald Reagan and his passionate affection for this country we call America. I hope that we end up with someone in 2012 that can steer this ship of state in the right direction and end this socialistic tyranny that we’ve come to hate so much.
